Eve reviews 'Back To The 90's' concert!
Eve was backstage at the "Back to the 90's concert" with Horace Brown, Tevin Campbell, Jon B & warm up UK act Shola Ama!
Thanks to JK Entertainment, Eve from Westside FM's Chart show & Soul Sensation was able to attend the Back to the 90's concert at Indigo's O2 arena, this October 09!
First on stage, Calvin Francis, the man of Soul (from commercial radio) took the mic to host the show and keep the crowd in the mood with his sensational classics. Playing all our favourites from Jodeci to the sounds of H Town and taking us back to the smooth 90's.
Eve got exclusive footage up close and personal with the "hot in the 90's" UK artist Shola Ama, strutting her stuff on stage singing live, her sensational track "You're the one I love". Shola surprised the audience by joining forces with her little sister Sadie Ama and brought double harmonies to Sadie's funky house track "Fallin".
Shola finished off her live performance with some of her new material and her all time favourite classic "You might need somebody".
Handing over the mic from UK to US artist, the smooth Horace Brown took over the arean next. Even after his big break from the industry, Horace still took to the stage like it was yesterday and rocked the mic with his all time favoutire track "One for the money". He got the crowd bouncing away, while he showed off his tasteful moves and flexing his bulging biceps. Horace brought us back to those classics memories with his track "Things we do for love" and finished off by speeding up the tempo with "Shake it up". He totally mezmorised the female crowd with his hot body and launched his top into the audience to get the girls screaming for more.
All warmed up and ready for the next act, Tevin Campbell gave a moving performance for "I'm ready". Suited and booted on stage he got the crowd singing "Can we talk" louder then he could sing it... but touched us all with his memorable high notes and getting the audience two stepping to his beats!
After a quick interval Calvin Francis jumped back on the decks to play some treasured Michael Jackson smash hits... while Jon B got ready for his main act of the night!
Eve got her stand at the front of the side stage to give this report on the night....
"Jon was an absolute treasure to spend time with. He was bubbly, friendly and always willing to give us a smile and give a positive word! He loved the UK food, UK mixed crowds and most of all the UK artists making it big. At the interview Jon surprised me with his deep sultry voice and touched me with his answers regarding his wife and daughter. He loves his music and takes pride of his love-making beats! He whisked me off on his tour bus with his management and I got a special live intimate performance before the show in Camden Town studios for rehersals.
Back stage at the concert he prayed for a success and he got exactly that! All dressed in slick white with his famous hat, white keyboard / guitar and live band, he got the crowd reminising with his Bob Marley remix of "Everytime". He paid tribute to Michael Jackson and sang "Rock with you" as his MJ cover and even after such a long break Jon still knew how to work the crowd! He sang his heart out for "Keeping it real", "Lately" and "They don't know" and finally closed the show his sensational performance of Sade's classic "Sweetest tabboo" and his unforgetable 90's classic "Don't talk"!
A night to truly be remembered... I can not wait for the "Back to the 90's" female version!"
